The Plane of Hate

I. Introduction

The Plane of Hate can only be reached via the wizard spell Alter Plane: Hate, and requires a reagent called Fuligant Soulstone of Innoruuk. The stone is sold by a vendor in the dark elf cleric guild, in Neriak 3rd Gate. Minimum price for it is 105pp. It used to be 250, so that's a big price drop. The level limit on the portal is 46, and keep this in mind: if you die at 46 on the plane, delevel, and the rez doesn't get you back to 46, you can't get back to get your corpse. So you are best advised to wait until at least 48 before going, and 55+ for the second floor.

[First floor map, click to enlarge]

Break-in can be challenging. On port, everyone should be invisible. When you get there, you should move off, following the blue line on the map. That means three right turns, then run up the wall and stay on the wall, heading east and then north, to where it says Break in Camp on the map. Everyone needs to stay at the camp spot and not move too far way, and definitely don't move up the wall, or you will agro the second floor. Likewise, when you pull something to the camp, don't fight on the wall or you can chain agro the second floor.

The pull team should consist of a rogue and monk, with the rogue scouting while hide/sneaking. Only two of the fourteen mobs on the PoH, Scorn Banshees and Ire Ghasts, can see him. Scorn Banshees look like female zombies while Ire Ghasts look like ghouls. The monk can /assist off the rogue to target mobs for the pull, unless it's a ghast or banshee, in which case the rogue doesn't have much choice if he gets surprised. Pull as much as possible to the break-in spot before moving. People usually move to the Maestro of Rancor's house since there's a lot more room.

Here's a run-down of the mobs. Each mob is a certain class, and by and large, drops armor for players of that class. So the Spite Golem, a shaman, drops shaman armor, etc. Each type of mob has a boss mob, such as the Avatar of Abhorrence, a bigger version of Abhorrent and Lord of Loathing, a bigger version of a Loathing Lich. There are exceptions. Most mobs are undead, so pallys and clerics can have a field day. Mini-bosses are on a three-day respawn timer.

Revultant Rat - Warrior. The most common mob up there. They look like a giant diseased rat and have low magic resist, but proc Deadly Poison. Only drop other than gems is a Ranger Whip. Low agro range.

Spite Golem - Shaman, looks like a rock golem. Casts SoW and alacrity on nearby mobs, has a pet, extremely high MR. Drops Runed Etched armor (shaman), and Runewood Shield, a druid shield. 100% spell resistant to all but poison/disease based spells. Enchanters should strip their buffs with Annul or Strip Enchantment. Considered the hardest mob to mez.

Scorn Banshee - Warrior, proc Strong Disease, drops Imbrued Platemail Armor (bards) and occasionally Martune Rapier (8/23 +5 str +4 agi, bard only). Cons indifferent, but DOES SEE sneaking rogues. Undead. Low agro range, tough to mez.

Forsaken Revenants - Both sexes. The males are magicians and drop Apothic armor (magician), females are enchanters and drop Insidious armor (enchanters). Female revenants don't charm. Have damage shields, males cast nasty AE spells. Have pets. Undead (vampires).

Abhorrents - Rogues, look like gargoyles, can backstab, drop Woven Shadow armor, and occasionally a Shrieking Ahlspiess (9/27, +4 str +5 dex, proc Yaulp II, rogue only). Renders as short spear although icon is that of a dirk. Do not see  invisible or see rogues. Very low magic resists - enchanters favorite target for charming.  Undead.

Clerics of Innoruuk - Clerics, look like guards in Neriak. Can CH very fast, especially if you pull more than one, and interrupting them is very difficult. High MR, tough to mez. Drop Ethereal Mist armor that turns clerics into Barney the Dinosaur, and Prismatic Shields (AC18 +10 SV all, cleric only).

Kiraikueis - Monks, look like zombies, drop Indicolite (warrior armor) and Shurikens of the Tranquil (monk-only throwing weapons). Do strong disease, have a low MR. Undead. Very large agro range, but a small pass-on range, so they will agro with anything close, but those in turn do not agro the mobs around them.

Ire Ghasts - Shadow Knights, undead, look like ghouls but cast multiple harm touches, drop Theologian Claymore (paladin 2HS), Darkmetal Holy Water Sprinkler (paladin 1HB) and Trueheart Shield (paladin shield). Have a small aggro range.

Ashenbone Drakes - Necromancers, big ugly bastards who look like skeletal dragons. Drop Ashenbone Axe (24/42 2HS with some stats, war/pal/sk/rng), Ashenbone Abassi (9/25 5str 4agi SK only) and Ashenbone Shield (AC25 +5 STA +100 HP, SK only). Undead. Have the worst agro radius of all mobs in PoH and are one of the hardest to mez. Mez adds and finish this one off first if you get multiple pulls.

Loathling Liches - Wizards, look like spectres, small agro range but big pass-on. Rather common mobs with lots of HP, drop nothing but sometimes a Rod of Souls, three charges Drain Soul.

Haunted Chest - Warrior. They look like a big box with teeth. They will proc a Nullify Magic, so they will strip your buffs. They drop a Rune Etched Bracer and Shiverback-Hide Boots. They do not see a rogue, but do see regular invis. They have an extremely small agro range and are very slow. When pulling, the puller has to stay close, or the box will forget and go home.

Most mobs are static, others roam or patrol through the zone. There are some times four mobs patrolling near the break-in spot, so be prepared to be jumped. Zone patrolers can be a Cleric, Spite, Ire, or Rat, and in that order of appearance. Repop on zone-patrol is the same as static spawns if killed, so about 8 hours. If they de-pop themselves, which they do if they make it to the zone line, then the repop is about 30 minutes or so, but since they walk right by the zone-in, if you set up camp there, you will get them all. They have a less than normal drop rate.

Regular Roamers: There are 2 patrol routes in Hate, the North and South. Both are mapped out on the map above. On both of these route, there can be Lich, Rat, or Ire, and they are both on a 30 minute timer, so be extremely careful. Also, both routes can run clockwise or counterclockwise, and the mobs can stop mid route and head back.

The Maestro

Maestro of Rancor is the number two boss mob on the plane. Warrior, casts an AE lifetap with a small radius, so only melees get nailed if casters are smart. Hits pretty hard and fast. List of drops:
Six Note Blade - 11/25 1HS, bard only.
    Evensong - 11/25 1HB, bard only.
Kelin's Seven Stringed Lute - bard string instrument.
Shield of the Stalwart Seas - AC35 +20 STR +20 STA, effect Ultravision. Only usable by Erudite Paladins.
Mempo of Likato - monk-only mask, effect of Ultravision.
Basoon Haste Gauntlets: Human monk gauntlets with haste.

To take him, first you must isolate his area. Pull all the clerics out of that house, then go up to the second floor and get the mobs up there as well. Once that's done, move your crew in, with the tanks facing him and the casters a distance away, near the throne in the building. Consult the floor plan above, because it shows where to position people.

When pulled, let the melees take him down to 60 percent before nuking. His AE lifetap can heal him quickly so you don't want to go OOM. Shaman slow won't stick, but enchanters can strip his enchantments and mana sieve him to lower his chances of lifetapping.

So, here's a chart of level one for your own reference.

The second floor is very interesting. There are fewer mobs and all of them are oversized Inkies in various forms (they are about as big as a Barbarian), and some of them drop class armor as well. The armor is at least Thurgadin-class or better, and extremely rare.

[Click on thumbnail to enlarge the map]

Pulls will take a little longer because they are so far apart, and they have a lot more hit points, so they take longer to kill. Mobs are at least in the mid-50s, so you need 58+ characters up here, especially chanters and shaman. Enchanters note: They can only be mezzed by the enchanter spell Rapture. Glamour of Kintaz will fail 99% of the time. The problem is, Rapture has a 24 second recast time. So you either need two level 59 enchanters or a lot of tanks to off-tank if you get mulitple adds.

Innoruuk's Chosen - Female inky, looks like the Champion. Drops Crown of Hatred, 10ac +6 str/agi/wis/int effect: ultravision (instant)

An Agent of Innoruuk - Female inky in colorful clothing, drops gems, Untamed armor for Rangers, Nightgrowth Blade, ranger 1hs, and Tier'Dal Sai, 1hb, 11/19, 5AC, +5 AGI, mnk/brd/rog.

An Evangelist of Hate - Male inky, looks like the Clerics. Kill him to stop the "All hail!" spamming. Drops Cleric items, although killing him is worth it just to stop the spam.

An Elite Dragoon - Male inky in plate, looks like an SK or warrior. No drops

A Sage of Innoruuk - Female inky in a purple robe, drops Rainment of the Chosen (caster robe, looks like FBR but +16 Int), Songshawl (bard shoulders), Spiritguard (shaman held item).

A Knight of Innoruuk - Male inky in sharp gold armor. Drops Righteous armor (Paladin armor) plus a Darkmetal Falchion, Hate's Edge, Life's Guard, Darkwar Mask.

A Champion of Innoruuk - Female inky in plate that looks like Thurg cleric armor. Warrior, drops Culler (2hs for war/rng), Mantle of Study (5ac 7dex 7int 10hp 10mana, casters), Nightgrowth Blade (12/23, 8 str, 8 wis 5.5wt).

Innoruuk

Innoruuk - Big ugly mofo. 7 day respawn, while everything else on the plane is between six and 12 hours. He has around 150,000 HP, rampages and enrages a lot. Dual hits for 400 damage max, bashes for 250, uses Gravity Flux and AE dispel. Because the gravity flux can literally throw you across the zone, you want to fight him inside a building near his spawn point (marked 'E' on the map), and keep the tanks huddled in a corner. SHUT OFF BARD SONGS! That's how we agroed him once.

He CAN be slowed, but need a 60 shaman. Hit him with Malo and Tash (bye-bye enchanter) and then have the shaman slow him. Gotta re-slow every four minutes. MT should solo for about 30 seconds with defensive disc. Druid DoTs all stick if he's been debuffed. More susceptible to cold than fire nukes. He dispels like crazy and he dispels from the top of the buff list down, so put your vital buffs at the bottom and use an insta-click item like JBoots or gobby earring. His drop list is very long.
